Why the Ref's Poll Averages Offer More

Dramatic Turnaround: Poll Finds Voters Split on Candidates' Iraq-Pullout Positions - This was supposed to be the issue that would defeat McCain.  Now it's helping him with Independents and is doing a great deal to secure his base.  Also, If the poll had polled only voters instead of all adults, as political polls should, the numbers would probably look better for McCain.

Is Fournier saving or destroying the AP? - Fournier's approach will make clear the liberal bias of the AP.  It will expose them over time and they will probably return to the "unbiased" approach they had before.

Bush Acts on Drilling, Challenging Democrats - This move might force Obama to vote against offshore drilling, but one doubts that Harry Reid will allow it if he has a choice.  Either way, it raises the profile of the issue if that is possible.

Democrats Look to Lobbyist to Finance Convention - "exactly the type of special influence that Mr. Obama had pledged to expunge from politics when he said he would not accept donations from lobbyists."  NYT

Dem convention has not helped local business  Locals flood GOP convention coffers

'Scare tactic' — Obama slams Muslim portrayal - Certainly Obama should object to serious propagandistic efforts to portray him as a Muslim, but this is political satire in the New Yorker magazine.  Political satire has a long history of extreme exaggeration in American history, and no candidate is above it.
