Recent Quinnipiac Polls are Extreme Outliers
Quinnipiac's latest numbers in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida are simply incredible. They show an 8-point lead in what every other poll shows to be an airtight race in Florida. In Ohio, another state that all other polls, including a Democratic poll (Public Policy Polling), show to be a toss up, Quinnipiac finds an 8-point lead for Barack Obama. Finally, in Pennsylvania, their poll shows Obama up by 15 points.
This race is close in Florida and Ohio. 8 points is simply not a number that reflects reality in either state. And while Obama is up in Pennsylvania, a poll showing a 15-point gap simply cannot be taken seriously. Democratic leaning, but frequently objective analysts, Chuck Todd and Charlie Cook both dismissed these polls as unbelievable. In the future, we will scrutinize Quinnipiac University results more closely as they have clearly demonstrated a flawed methodology and perhaps some real bias.
